Tack Tiles – small art prototypes

Tack Tiles – small acrylic paintings on canvas, mounted on wood blocks with tacks.

In an attempt to work with new materials, I made a quick series of four abstract paintings on loose canvas, mounted them to wood blocks as if upholstering them by hammering a series of metal tacks around the edges of the canvas, and outlined the canvas with a stripe of black paint in the margins of wood.  In my next prototyping, I will try a spray adhesive before tacking.  I am not particularly proud of the results aesthetically, but I believe that the process was successful enough to warrant a continuation.
